Professional Experience

Cornell University — Lab of Ornithology | Senior Lead Infrastructure Administrator March 2026 – Present

We had three on-premises vCenters managing multiple VMware clusters and ESXi hosts. Due to increasing VMware licensing and infrastructure costs, we evaluated Azure Local as the target platform. I assessed VM utilization and application dependencies, designed the Azure Local clusters, and mapped VMware VLANs and port groups to Azure Local logical networks. We used Azure Migrate source and target appliances for discovery, replication and migration. During scheduled weekend windows, we performed final synchronization, shut down the source VMs, brought up the Azure Local VMs and validated networking, applications, monitoring and Rubrik backups. We migrated the workloads in phases and retained the VMware VMs temporarily for rollback before decommissioning the ESXi resources.

Supported an on-premises VMware environment consisting of three vCenters, multiple vSphere clusters and ESXi hosts

Assessed VMware workloads for migration to Azure Local by analyzing CPU, memory, storage, network utilization and application dependencies

Designed Azure Local target clusters with Azure Arc integration, logical networks, storage paths and high-availability requirements

Evaluated post-migration CPU, memory, IOPS and latency to right-size Azure Local VMs and optimize NVMe/SSD storage utilization.

Configured end to end VLAN setup.

AI/ML Infrastructure Build-out for Ornithology Research Platform

Provisioned and configured Dell PowerEdge R7725 servers as the primary AI/ML compute platform for ornithology research workloads — including GPU hardware installation, PCIe lane planning, BIOS/iDRAC configuration, and thermal validation.

Built Kubernetes cluster on GPU nodes to orchestrate AI/ML workloads; configured GPU pod scheduling with taints/tolerations and resource quotas to ensure workload isolation across research teams.

Led infrastructure of QNAP NAS/backup arrays as secondary storage and backup target for AI training datasets, model checkpoints, and research data — configured scheduled backup jobs with retention policies and validated RTO/RPO compliance.

Led Active Directory OU migration for the Lab: restructured OU hierarchy, resolved delegation and permission issues, and migrated user/computer objects with zero service disruption using PowerShell automation.

Prepared migration runbooks covering replication, final synchronization, weekend cutover, application validation and rollback
